Pedal Movement was born in 2009 when three friends decided to offer bicycle tune ups outside their local watering hole in exchange for beer. That first night, they had more beer than they knew what to do with. They realized that the city they wanted to live in was a city where people were riding bikes.
More than ten years and a few thousand tune-ups later, Pedal Movement runs operations for the City of Long Beach Bike Share system and is piloting a fully off-grid E-Bike library for residents in San Pedro. And yes, you can still find us giving free bicycle tune ups at local events, because we just can’t seem to stop.
Pedal Movement believes that when more people use active transportation, communities prosper. It is our mission to make micromobility and emissions free transportation options accessible to everyone. We’re in the business of changing the way cities move — one revolution at a time.
At its core, Pedal Movement exists to create, enrich, and employ local communities with the transformative power of bicycle transportation. We are a group of like minded individuals who understand the transformative power of zero emissions transportation.
In addition to promoting cycling events, hosting group rides and safety clinics, and building operational infrastructure for universal bicycle access, we also support the professionals who keep it all moving. Pedal Movement equips bicycle mechanics with industry-leading job training, great benefits, and a livable wage – all of which converge to change and improve the way their city, and its people, move.
